Title of report proposal : To explore what advantages UMP manufacturing student find in using computer aided manufacturing in creating manufacturing product.

Date of submission : 20 July 2009

INTRODUCTION

Background
This study will explore and to determine the benefit gained by UMP students when using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software in creating manufacturing product. Manufacturing process basically require lot of process which is deal with the production quality and the effectiveness. In manufacturing processes the process or fabrication and also the production were using conventional method and Computer Aided Manufacturing method as well.It is easier for us to design the shape and key in the parameters in Computer Aided software because this software will transfer the data that been identified into the program.Beside that for person this thing will help engineers and students to improved their advanced machining skills and enhance their technological knowledge because technology in manufacturing field is fast growing.

Objective of study

Research objective

1. To explore the advantages when using Computer aided Manufacturing software among manufacturing student.
2. To find out how important of Computer aided Manufacturing software helps manufacturing students create products.

Research question

1. What are the advantages of using Computer Aided Manufacturing?
2. How much do UMP manufacturing students apply computer aided manufacturing in creating products.

Definition of terms

Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is a software that assist engineer and machinist designing and machine product as well where CAM has been utilized in engineering practice in many ways including drafting, design and simulation tools was often used in among manufacturing company and the core CAM process is a geometric model of the product under design stage.

REVIEW of RELATED LITERATURE

Article 1

Summary

Group technology (GT) is broad concept that uses common attributes to reduce redundant work in design and manufacturing and result in shorter product development and production time. This study focused on the implementation of the GT concept to a specific aspect of computer aided manufacturing and computer aided design. It also provide a significant advantages for manufactures y enabling them to respond faster to market demand and run production more economically in today's highly competitive manufacturing environment.

Article 3

Summary

This article is about how the 3D CAD software are able to improve the engineering drawings. It also describe that converting drawings in order to manufacture products taking too much steps and time. It is opposite with 3D CAD software which has already connected with the machine making this manufacturing industry able to create a more precise product due to market demands.
